LENT AT LIFEPOINT

LENT

Lent is a season of repentance that prepares Christians for Easter. Lent is modeled after Christ’s forty day fast mentioned in Matthew 4:2.

“Jesus fasted from food and water for forty days in the wilderness. It was not a religious ritual or merely a display of his restraint. Rather, it was a time of trial and temptation which he endured by entrusting himself to God and being nourished on the Word of God. The point of the wilderness, for Jesus, was to experience the real presence of God with him, and power of God at work in him.

“The Lenten practice of denying usual comforts is a means of deepening our sense of union with Jesus, and reorienting our life around the things of God. We give up that which distracts and entangles because we want to experience some real joy and freedom in Christ.

“The Bible talks about fasting, but it does not prescribe a specific practice of fasting. Giving something up for Lent is not an issue of Christian obedience. The real goal is to feast of Jesus, and for some, a period of self-denial can whet the appetite in good and godly ways.” -excerpt from Day 2 of Journey to the Cross (page 12)

GOOD FRIDAY

This year, we will have a Good Friday service on April 18th at 6:30pm. This is a somber/solemn service, and the topic is very heavy. Jesus was tortured and killed. Your children are welcome to attend the service with you, but we advise that you discuss the events with your children in advance. Childcare will be available for children Birth through Pre-K.

EASTER SUNDAY

Come celebrate the risen King of Kings with us on Easter morning!  Services will be held at 7:15am, 9:00am, and 10:45am.

LifePoint Kids programming will be available at the 9:00am and 10:45am services for children from birth through fifth grade.

If you call LifePoint home, we ask that you help by doing a couple of things:

  • Park in Denman Elementary School parking lot to leave parking spaces for visitors
  • Sit closer to the stage and closer to the center of rows, trying to leave no extra open seats in the middle of rows
  • Attend the 7:15am or 10:45am services.
